Steve Baric is a seasoned trial attorney with experience in business litigation, criminal defense, DUI & Family Law matters. Mr. Baric has tried over 100 cases including serious felonies in both State and Federal courts. As a former Orange County Gang Prosecutor, Mr. Baric prosecuted the toughest hard core criminal street gangs as a member of the TARGET gang task force. In 2005, he was honored with the prestigious Diligent Prosecutor award by Mothers against Drunk Driving.
Mr. Baric is also experienced in appellate advocacy having briefed and argued cases in the California Supreme Court and California Courts of Appeal. In 2008, Mr. Baric organized a group of legislators filing a lawsuit to prevent the early release of 50,000 violent felons. Mr. Baric was involved in both the drafting of the litigation briefs and the Supreme Court argument. This case was argued in the United States Supreme Court in 2010.
Mr. Baric has either represented or has personal relationships with some of Orange County’s most significant business leaders. Mr. Baric has been the featured guest speaker at numerous business and industry functions, speaking on such topics as, litigation exposure, public relations, and election law. Additionally, on numerous occasions he has briefed the California Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors on pending legislation.
He has been a featured speaker in Election Law seminars for both the California Republican Party and the Republican National Lawyers Association, and has trained lawyers and poll watchers since 2000. In 2004, he served as the Chairman of Lawyers for Bush/Cheney in Orange County. Additionally, he has represented several elected officials, political campaigns, political action committees, and has testified at congressional committee hearings.
An experienced and adept problem solver, he has successfully navigated clients through their legal issues while in the media spotlight. Many of Mr. Baric’s cases have been “high-profile” involving significant media scrutiny. Steve has been quoted by almost every major news publication in California and has appeared on the FOX News program “On the Record” with Greta Van Sustern.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Baric has also dedicated several years to public service. He currently serves as an elected member of the Rancho Santa Margarita City Council and in 2011, was unanimously elected Vice-Chairman of the California Republican Party. Mr. Baric has consulted for numerous candidates and campaigns on issues such as election law as well as regulatory issues surrounding the election process. Mr. Baric has more than 10 years of experience in state and national politics, coalition building, strategy development, and crisis management.
Mr. Baric attended McGeorge School of Law (J.D 1998), where he was a member of the Deans Honor Roll and a member of the Moot Court Honors Board.
